In the wake of countless data breaches, and social media account hacks, ahem, Ariana Grande, we thought it was only fitting to dedicate this week’s advice to the integrity saving, Two-Factor Authentication or 2FA for short. But was is 2FA you ask? Let us explain…
Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)?
According to our trusted security partner, Duo Security, two-factor authentication strengthens access security by requiring two methods (also referred to as factors) to verify your identity. These factors can include something you know – like a username and password, plus something you have – like a smartphone app to approve authentication requests.
2FA directly protects against phishing, social engineering, and password brute-force attacks and secures your logins from attackers exploiting weak or stolen credentials. If you can recall, we discussed social engineering last week!
Enabling a 2FA solution is an easy and effective method to ensuring all points of access are protected.
